Dog Point – Organic philosophy drives Dog Point’s approach to wine growing. In March 2012, 150 ha of vineyards, including Merino Wiltshire Cross, Perendale Cross, and Romney, were certified organically by BioGro. Another 60 ha was certified C1 (after two years of conversion). Around 2,000 sheep, including Romneys, Perendale Crosses, and Merino Wiltshire Crosses, are grazed during the winter months to keep the grass down and fertilize the soil.

Chateau Maucoil was founded several centuries ago. According to ancient documents, the first inhabitants were Romans. They set up a base in order to support Caesar’s legion. Joseph de La Pise inherited the estate in 1624 and the castle, which had been built by the Dutch royal house of Orange-Nassau. The introduction of winegrowing forever changed the history of Chateau Maucoil. Since 2011, the 45 hectares under vine in Chateauneuf du Pape have been organically farmed. Chateau Maucoil uses traditional methods to care for the vineyard, including furrowing and forming mounds.
